Speech & Language

Janice Lee, Speech-Language Pathologist, M.H.Sc., SLP(C), Reg. CASLPO

Janice is a registered speech-language pathologist. She is a member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).

Janice has over 15 years’ experience working in the pediatric speech and language setting. After completing her degree at the University of Toronto, she worked in both private and public settings. Janice has worked within the provincial Preschool Speech and Language Programs and Tri-Regional Infant Hearing Programs.

Janice is passionate about early intervention, motor speech disorders and feeding/chewing orofacial myofunctional therapy. Janice seeks to work with each individual and their family to support their needs and communication goals. Through direct intervention and parent coaching, she draws from various past training to provide best practice to support and develop goals.

Her training includes:

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication Training: Core vocabulary, Pixons, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Auditory-Verbal Training: Auditory Verbal Therapy Level 1 & Level 2
  • Hanen Training: certified in Hanen programs (It Takes Two to Talk, Target Word, More Than Words, Talkability, ABC & Beyond, I’m Ready, Learning Language & Loving It)
  • Motor Speech Training: PROMPT Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT), provincial Motor Speech 101 and 201 Training, individual courses in motor speech
  • Fluency Training: Updates in Stuttering Fluency Course via Speech & Stuttering Institute, Lidcombe Stuttering Program
  • Orofacial Myofunctional Training: Orofacial Myology (from basics to habituation), individual seminars in feeding and orofacial myofunctional disorders. Janice is trained in OMT and working towards qualification.

In addition to speech and language, Janice is a professional graphic designer who has created over a hundred digital activities for telepractice use. Her playTOK Boom Cards are in use around the world during early intervention telepractice. In particular, they were adopted during the pandemic, but continue to be used in virtual and tablet settings. As motivation is a big part of therapy, she is always creating new activities to support speech language training and continued home practice. 

As a mother of two, she strives to help her own children and all children to grow with creativity, curiosity and joy.

Suvin Tam, Speech-Language Pathologist, M.ClSc., SLP(C). Reg. CASLPO

Suvin is a registered speech-language pathologist who is passionate about working with pediatric speech and language populations. She is a member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and The Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA).

Suvin works within a public Preschool Speech and Language Program as well as Ontario Autism Program Entry to School Program during her full-time practice. She provides support to children with language, speech and social interactions needs. Moreover, she has experiencein augmentative and alternative communication, working in the past with individuals with acquired brain injury (pediatric, adult). She is a current registered Individual Authorizer for Augmentative and Alternative Communication low-tech devices (Ontario Assistive Devices Program).

Suvin enjoys working with children and their families, aiming to support parents in developing their own individual skills in helping their children develop speech and language. Suvin believes in collaboration with a child’s family and team to support communication in a variety of environments to provide holistic care for clients. She works together with parents to provide personalized targets for home program practice.

Krista Melville, Communicative Disorders Assistant

Krista is a communicative disorders assistant with over 15 years’ experience working in the pediatric speech and language setting. Krista has experience through the Preschool Speech and Language Program (e.g., early social, language) as well as School Based Rehabilitation services (speech and stuttering). Krista is knowledgeable in virtual telepractice and therapy. Krista works under the supervision of a speech-language pathologist. Through working together with children and their parents, she aims to support speech and stuttering goals through virtual telepractice.

Krista is patient, resourceful and engaging during sessions with children and their families.

Stephanie Sutherland, Communicative Disorders Assistant

Stephanie is a communicative disorders assistant with over 20 years’ experience working in the pediatric speech and language setting. Stephanie has experience through provincial Preschool Speech and Language Programs and school boards. Stephanie also provides private speech therapy under the supervision of a speech-language pathologist. Stephanie is passionate about parent coaching and caregiver coaching when working with young children who have speech or language disorders. Stephanie also provides support to childcare educators, through the same caregiver coaching approach.

Stephanie brings enthusiasm and fun to her sessions with children and families. With a variety of training approaches under her belt, Stephanie works collaboratively with parents to develop home routines and environments where children are willing and wanting to learn.

Occupational Therapy

Alice Wong, Occupational Therapist

Alice is a registered occupational therapist. She is a member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). She is an Authorizer for Mobility Devices though the Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP), and is certified in Ride Custom Seating.

Alice has over 10 years of experience providing therapy to preschool, school-aged, and adolescent clients with various occupational therapy needs. She has supported clients with a wide range of physical and neurodevelopmental concerns. She has provided paediatric occupational therapy services in an outpatient clinical setting as well as within schools delivering School Based Rehabilitation services.

Alice provides assessment, treatment, and consultation to families and children with concerns regarding their fine motor skills, activities of daily living (self-help skills), and sensory processing. She is passionate about helping children learn skills to become more independent and participate in daily activities that are important to them. Alice is patient and creative when working with children to develop their skills. She is also resourceful, drawing on her knowledge of the many strategies and/or adaptive equipment that can help children become more independent. She believes in working collaboratively with families to help them support their children achieve their goals.
