I absolutely adore Matroyshka dolls with their simplicity, beautiful colours, and intricate details.

Typically, I make activities that spark fun and curiosity. Much of the time, I try to mimic ‘real life’ and bring the best parts of play into virtual activities that can be used to augment telepractice.

The following “I Love Matroyshka Nesting Dolls” is a set of interactive toys for virtual telepractice or in-centre tablet use. They require little to no prep and can be adapted for a variety of goals.

Some example targets include:

Requesting: Open, shut, More

Labeling Family members: Mama, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Sister, Brother, Baby

Language: pronouns he/she/they

Concepts: open/close, on/off, in/out, big/bigger/biggest, small/smaller/smallest, first/next/last, beside, between, top/bottom

Numeracy: You can count the flowers on their outfit designs (e.g. 1-5)

Speech: duplicated CVCV (mama, dada, baba), C1V1C2V2 (mommy, daddy, baby, bubba, nonna, nana, papa), etc.
